Step by Step on how to store your water for 5+years.
Water storage can sometimes feel overwhelming and tricky, especially when you hear that you need to rotate your water every 6 months. But what if I told you that there is a way to store your water up to 5+ years. That will make this process feel less like a burden and more of a fun project. In this post I will show you step by step how to store your water properly in case if there was ever an emergency. Lets get started.
What you'll need:
1.
Did you know that one small bag of Calcium Hypochlorite can purify 10,000 gallons of water and has a ten year shelf life? 1/4 tsp of this stuff will keep your water clean for 5 years.
2.
Bung Wrench helps you open and close your water drums. It will be much harder to open your containers if you don’t have this tool.
3.
Do NOT use a garden hose when filling up your water containers. They are made with lead and are filled with bacteria. Water hoses are inexpensive and will keep your water clean. You can find them at Walmart or Here.
5.
Use NON-SCENTED bleach when disinfecting your water containers. Scented Bleach holds extra chemicals and fragrances that aren’t meant to be consumed.
6.
This item tends to be forgotten about when purchasing water drums, but it’s also one of the most important things to buy because it is how you get your water out of the drum.
