Hi! I’m Shayla Egan. I’m a mother, wife, runner, prepper, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I’m a stay-at-home mom who also loves spending my time sharing goodness with the world online. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to speak and teach in multiple wards, stakes, conferences, and large-group settings on both temporal and spiritual preparedness.

I’m also a co-author of Not So Secret Lives of REAL Mormon Wives, where I shared my personal experiences as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That experience also led to my involvement in the film Women in Christ.

Sharing about the gospel and messages of faith online has become one of my greatest passions. I love helping others feel more prepared—both spiritually and temporally—and encouraging them to strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Years ago, my husband and I moved out of state for a job opportunity, which meant leaving behind close friends and family. As a young mom of three little kids, I quickly realized just how unprepared I felt if an emergency were to happen.

I began searching online for simple, practical ways to prepare my young family for emergencies and disasters. But everything I found seemed to focus on “the end of the world” or extreme doomsday prepping. I kept wondering, Where were the families like mine—the ones who simply wanted to be better prepared for everyday life and whatever challenges might come their way?

That’s when I decided to begin my own preparedness journey.

Now, more than 10 years later, I’m sharing the experiences, lessons, and research I’ve gathered along the way. My hope is that this blog can help you and your family feel more confident and prepared—not only temporally, but spiritually as well.

Because preparedness doesn’t have to come from fear. It can come from a place of peace, confidence, and knowing you’ve done what you can to take care of the people you love most.
